It may well be beneficial to pay your partner or spouse a salary if you run your own company. This is generally only beneficial when they are not paid elsewhere, or they are not paid their full tax free personal allowance each year.
In order to pay your partner you will need to set them up on a payroll, pay them the recommended amount each month and submit RTI submissions to HMRC.
Please be aware that your partner should be actively involved in working within the company to enable a wage to be paid out. Involvement should ideally be fee earning, though could include bookkeeping, credit control or office management.
